Job description

This position is responsible for leading a team whose primary focus is to support the Retail Sales Division with:

  • Innovation Sales / Business Planning
  • Trade Promo Management
  • Data Management and Analytics
  • Category Management
  • Sales Process Improvement

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strategic channel and customer planning, partnering with broader team; focusing on AMPS implementation/optimization, Category Management and Customer Marketing.
  • Serve as the “voice of customer” and provide strategic intelligence on important trade/channel developments, trends and requirements (Fast Track Strategic Initiatives).
  • Lead Retail Division annual budget development process.
  • Lead Retail Division Annual Sales Management and Broker Organization Playbook
  • Lead development of annual plans through sales team, and internal departments.
  • Business Plan Developer of New Item Launch.
  • Implement annual trade promotion calendar via Proforma process and track compliance.
  • Oversee development of analyses, reports, templates, and tools in support of both sales and internal teams.
  • Oversee and responsible for trade spend budgeting, tracking and analytics using internal data, syndicated data, and market trends.
  • Oversee and responsible for category management and analytical work of Business Analysts for internal stakeholders and the Region Sales Managers using external market research data and internal sales analysis reports.
  • Oversee promo analysis for financial investments (slotting, ad fees, customer specific couponing, etc.) made in the field, both pre and post execution.
  • Lead the creation of the corporate category management platform.
  • Customer planning and call presentation support & execution; coordinate work between field and inside group


  • Degree: BS/BA minimum
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in CPG, and preferably in the fresh produce industry.
  • Strong, classic Trade/Customer Marketing background with a leading consumer packaged goods company. Experience in fresh produce is preferred.
  • Experience leading the Customer/Trade Marketing function including specific experience in evaluating the needs of the field and translating that into specific marketing programs
  • A strong record of creating a winning vision in an environment where there is a strong emphasis on merchandising, promotion, and partnerships.
  • Proven success working in a fast paced environment where strategic brand-building efforts are complemented by hard-driving promotional activities.
  • Proven ability and desire to help build a Marketing infrastructure, including processes, methodologies and tools required to drive Marketing effectiveness.
