Job description

Summary:  This position is responsible for creating and delivering strategies for growth, profitability, vision in our berry department. Manage berry sales and sales activities of others as well as direct personnel involved in Sales and Marketing to align with long-term account goals and company vision and values.

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Create sales and marketing plans for both domestic and import berry programs.

  • Understand and utilize weather & harvest information along with USDA reports and business knowledge to determine daily, weekly and lid pricing as well as twice weekly marketing reports to growers and staff.

  • Source growers as necessary to fill product gaps.

  • Work with growers to ensure consistent product availability and quality.

  • Facilitate the import program through an LA based warehouse. This includes:

    • Manage import program and LA fruit inventory

    • Notify cooler and PIA of incoming fruit, inspection requirements, lot number, etc.

    • Ensure proper handling of product by the storage facility

    • Manage fruit quality, movement and customer allocation to maximize profit

    • Work with wholesale market and local vendors to purchase product as necessary and sell fruit not meeting our customer’s quality requirements

    • Coordinate resorting and resale or redelivery as needed

    • Work with growers and import company to facilitate information, product movement and sales planning

  • Strategize and move large quantities of fruit packed during the domestic season. Allocate and price to existing and new customers in order to maximize return.

  • Identify and report on business opportunities in target markets

  • Participates with the Senior Staff in the development of the Company's Strategic Plan

  • Seeks out and targets new sales opportunities, initiates action plan to approach and secure new business for the company

  • Responsible for Trade Accounts Receivable.  Monitors A/R aging on a proactive basis and communicates with Senior Staff and CFO 

 

Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, 5 years in the produce industry where marketing, sales and inventory management skills were essential to the operations of the business is required.

Other Skills and Abilities - Computer software skills required include:  Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe.
