Job description

The position is responsible for oversight of day-to-day product business activities, mid-term and pre-season sales and operations planning. This position will assist in managing the daily and weekly sales operations execution, communication, planning, and measurement for the commodity. This includes, but is not limited to, managing inventories, making short range adjustments to the sales plan as necessary, and guiding the sales team accordingly. In addition, this position will monitor and measure sales activities to coordinate product flow and order fulfillment from all production regions. The sales and operations planning will require working closely with cross-functional groups across the company and partner staff to ensure successful short-range planning and execution of our sales plan, all in an effort to Optimize Fruit Value and deliver on Naturipe Farms Customer Service goals.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Focus on the Day to Day, Short and Mid Term Sales and Operations Planning for Conventional and Organic Blueberries.
  • Act as the first point of contact in dealing with and handling product claims with the sales team and Partner operations staff
  • Balances sales boards, report any discrepancies and resolve issues.
  • Monitor fruit aging and product rotation.
  • Updates and distributes Daily Pack Plan to all growing area/facility when necessary. Produces weekly pack plans for all growing areas and updates season plans on a weekly basis.
  • Monitor special pack requests and export orders.
  • Monitor market conditions and daily estimates and adjust the short term pack plans as needed, including sku mix, and distribution to achieve pricing goals.
  • Collects and tracks Blueberry category production forecasts. Reports weekly on projections versus actual receipts
  • Plan and create fruit transfers around demand per location and follow up until delivered successfully.
  • Monitor fruit demand per warehouse location.
  • Work close together with Transportation team to maximize freight efficiencies
  • Direct contact between Sales, Partner Operations and the Product Managers
  • Assists in coordinating Pre-Season planning with Partner Operations Staff, Alliance Growers, Sales and Marketing departments to achieve a smooth start for each deal.
  • Prepare weekly product availability reports for the Sales team.
  • Enters all projections in SAP and updates as needed.
  • Supports Product Managers & Sales Department
  • Manages the six week blueberry projections and evaluates weekly commitment levels on the ad & promo file web page
  • Communicate transportation, availability, inventory, order fulfillment and other unforeseen situations that arise to the Product Managers and Sales department.
  • Update Sales and Logistics teams with any changes and order fulfillment interruptions
  • Manage daily sales operations including reviewing inventories, product rotation, carryover, and SKU mix to achieve the targeted pool pricing, claims reduction and customer service goals
  • Monitoring of imported fruit in conjunction with Partner Operations & Logistics.
  • Develops knowledge base in all Blueberries with Naturipe Farms, growers and customers.
  • Assists in communication and education to sales team, staff and customers on Blueberries
  • Measure daily and weekly sales performance relative to plan, including actual to sales plan, customer performance relative to plan, SKU performance, and geographical distribution.
  • Manage the accuracy and distribution of reports for stakeholder audiences including the Monday Market Update, Average Sales Price projection, daily Market News reporting, and the weekly volume projections for forward pricing and Promotion portals.
  • Assists to coordinate and communicate with the Sales assuring sales orders align with production and advises when contrary actions are needed.
  • Assists in coordinating the daily relationship with Partner Operations staff to achieve the targeted customer and department service goals.
  • Must be available on call evenings and weekends.
  • Assists Director of Blueberry Product Management and other Product Managers as needed.
  • Understand sales plan within the next two weeks to analyze where value can be added and to offer detailed market conditions to the partners
  • Oversee boat container inbounds during the import season, ensuring that the information is effectively communicating to sales
  • Planning air arrivals accordingly during the Argentina/Chile season to make sure product is brought in with enough time to meet orders
  • Managing the overall value of each specific pack, constantly looking for ways to maximize value to the grower
  • Managing re-packing and/or re-grading as needed to add value to returns
  • Managing CA plans to add value to returns
  • Develop knowledge in order to assist in AD/promotion planning with sales
  • Gain knowledge of each partner’s operation to drive efficiencies in packing at the grower level to add value to returns
  • Develop a deep understanding for the supply chain of our most important customers and value added processes in order to give leadership on decisions in regards to these accounts

Quantitative Data

  • Manage up to 6 weekly conference calls & planning meetings with grower-owners’ Operations Staff and Senior Management.
  • Manage annually 650 operational daily meeting/conference calls with grower-owners’ Operations Staff & Senior Management.          
  • Manage and mitigate 1,520 annual individual claims
  • Participate in 104 Sales & Price meetings/calls annually
  • Coordinate and manage up to 50 million pounds of blueberries annually

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Associates (2 year) degree minimum; Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Business, Business, Supply Chain Management or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of agriculture business, produce sales, order fulfillment, and/or production management preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience in office or produce environment a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred but not required.
  • Intermediate or greater skills with Windows, Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word required. Previous experience with SAP a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. As well as good phone etiquette.
  • High energy level with strong inter-personal skills.
  • Self-starter, multi-task oriented, works well independently and acts on own initiative.
  • Ability to accept responsibility, make competent decisions independently and thrive in a cooperative team environment.
  • Ability to work in a professional, confident manner.

  • Effective time management skills are necessary to ensure a high level of quality and efficiency in a fast-paced environment
  • Prior produce business and/or berry category experience and basic knowledge of production cycles and growing areas a plus.
  • Ability to calculate the potential impact of changes in production, margin, etc. to gain value / loss of value to the Company’s key stakeholders and report results to Directors. 
  • The individual must be willing to travel for short periods of time and available to travel at least 30 days per year. This may include work off-site in production regions for short periods of time during harvest season.
