Job description

SUMMARY:

The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating daily activities of the production staff to ensure customer satisfaction, and all ensure plant goals are met.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure food safety controls are in place and working to mitigate / eliminate food safety risks; ensure all SOP’s are being followed
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by producing quality products, quality service with 100% order fill and on-time, and at the lowest cost possible
  • Enforce company policies and procedures
  • Monitor product trim and waste, training staff on best practices to maximize yield
  • Monitor plant’s production costs to maximize productivity, balance and mitigate overtime
  • Collect and analyze production data to determine how best to improve the plant’s production process
  • Validate product run-rates and cost per pound to produce (pounds per man hour)
  • Ensure proper staffing seasonally, weekly, and daily to maximize production capacity
  • Monitor attendance by ensuring supervisors track daily attendance, tardiness, early outs, and absentees; supervisors are tracking points and performing staff counseling and or warnings
  • Discipline staff as necessary
  • Approve all requests for days off, vacation requests verifying available vacation time for employee, and requests are not less than two weeks in advance, for all production staff
  • Ensure staff education and training is completed on-time
  • Work closely with other site managers on purchasing, sales, warehousing, and new product development
  • Other as required

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Preferred Attributes:

Bachelor’s degree preferred in industrial engineering, industrial management, or business management

Fluent in English and Spanish preferred

 

Required Attributes:

Five years of first-line supervisor experience in food processing / manufacturing environment

Verifiable ability to manage multiple projects and balance priorities

Verifiable ability to identify and address problems

Verifiable leadership skills

Computer courses, certificate, or can demonstrate computer skills

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS:

Will have contact with all levels ownership, management, and staff within the company

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Open availability to work weekends and evenings as necessary, ability to lift up to 40 pounds as needed, work under diverse temperatures from ambient to refrigerated
