Job description

Summary  West Coast Berry Farms LLC is experiencing significant growth and desires a Controller that can contribute to that growth.  Working with the CFO and other senior management, the Controller will manage all accounting and financial reporting functions. The Controller will be involved with or responsible for monthly and year-end closes, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reporting, policies, procedures and internal controls. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements,
  • Manage all accounting operations and general ledger account analysis and reconciliations, including sales invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory accounting and revenue recognition,
  • Monthly and year-end close and financial reporting,
  • Prepare interpretive analysis of financial statements,
  • Technical accounting research as necessary to understand and establish accounting policies,
  • Financial budgeting and forecasting,
  • Prepare ad-hoc management reports and analysis,
  • Enhance or develop and document business processes and accounting procedures to maintain and strengthen internal controls,
  • Review and analyze budget to actual results and trends
  • Develop relevant KPIs,
  • Compare actual to budget; analyze variances & provide recommendations for improvement,
  • Auditing and compliance reporting,
  • Assist with year-end audit and tax procedures,
  • Manage and train accounting team in the use of accounting policy and procedures,
  • Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment,
  • Other controller duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree in business administration with concentration in accounting or finance,
  • CPA and public accounting experience preferred,
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • At least 5 years hands on solid working experience as controller or other relevant experience,
  • The candidate could be a highly qualified accounting manager ready to take on controller responsibilities,
  • Solid experience managing financial reporting, budgeting and analysis, general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll,
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data including presentations to management
  • Technology savvy with fluency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills,
  • Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and responsibility
  • Agribusiness experience helpful, but not required
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish helpful, but not required
