Job Title: Accounting Manager

Location: King City, California

Reports To: Christine Phillips, Controller

Salary: Exempt

Western Harvesting, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to supervise and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely managerial reporting and financial statements.



  • Understand and maintain financial reporting and accounting system structures, safeguarding internal controls and accuracy.

  • Trains, manages and mentors staff with a positive outlook and ability to hold staff accountable.

  • Helps to develop and implement an ongoing, continuous improvement matrix to ensure accuracy and efficiency within the department.

  • Expertise in payroll tax returns, unsecured business taxes and balancing assets to depreciation schedules.

  • Ability to produce accurate and timely month, quarter and year end closes in adherence with GAAP rules.

  • Assist the Controller in the daily banking requirements.

  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions and payroll tax payments.

  • Supports budget, forecasting and audit activities.

  • Responds to inquiries from senior management, Controller, and Department Managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests, working with staff to fulfill requirements.

  • Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely yearend audit.

  • Support Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.

  • Perform other job-related duties required by the Controller to support the accounting staff as well as meet and advance the objectives of the Company.

  • Accounting manager will assist both the Controller and CFO in regards to the year-end audits, internal controls and implementation of GAAP. 



  • Well versed in Microsoft Office products and general PC skills. Famous software experience a plus.

  • Excellent managerial skills with a positive outlook and track record of successful training.

  • Ability to professionally lead and communicate both internally and externally with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organized with strong multi-tasking skills; able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, meeting deadlines and accomplishing objectives.

  • Must be agile in decision making with clear communication skills, ability to assess root causes and take actions as needed.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours with at least 40 hours a week minimum with some evenings, weekends, and holiday’s as business requires.




  • BA/BS in accounting or related degree.

  • Minimum five years prior supervisory experience in accounting required.

  • Experience working in agriculture is essential.
