Job description

The job of the International Sales Representative was established for the purpose/s of assisting the International Sales Manager with sales, marketing, planning, logistics and administrative duties for various international markets. Maintains regular and continuous verbal and written contact with packinghouses, exporters, overseas customers, steamship companies, and other suppliers/vendor related to the export business. Analyzes sales data and assists in export pricing activities with export sales policies under the supervision of the International Sales Manager.



  • Enters orders in the system and follow up on order status.
  • Makes bookings with ocean carriers and maintain booking sheets.
  • Coordinates orders with packinghouses, customers, ocean carriers, truckers.
  • Assists in creating weekly price quotations for all international markets.
  • Compiles weekly shipping reports for internal group.
  • Gains full understanding of farming, packing, shipping, importing, tariffs, regulatory requirements, MRLs, etc.
  • Responsible for data entry, record keeping, and other administrative tasks.
  • Frequent communication and relationship building with customers/shippers/vendors.
  • Participates when necessary in various meetings and presentations, both internal and external.
  • Provides customers with an understanding of the Sunkist export system and structure.
  • Provides frequent updates on crop, harvesting schedules, seasonality, etc.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Accomplishes department and organization goals by completing related tasks as needed.



  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Routine emailing and communication with customers regarding invoicing, questions, or pricing.
  • Maintains a neat work area.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
  • Attends meetings as requested.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications/Licenses, Experiences, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Bachelor Degree in Agriculture, Business/Economics, International Studies and/or Marketing or a related field or equivalent. Associates degree also acceptable.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a sales environment.
  • Must possess a valid CA unrestricted drivers license.
  • Experienced in documentation management preferred with experience dealing with diverse entities.
  • Knowledge of ad-hoc reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with internal and external customers.
  • The ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameter of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
  • Ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent’s and/or ratios.
  • Strong computer skills: must be proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook; ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Must be very detail oriented; work in a fast-paced environment with high ability to multitask.
  • Skilled at adapting to changing priorities, work environments, management styles and business trends.
  • Ability to acquire and apply new knowledge or skills for work and recognize own strengths and weaknesses.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (List not all inclusive)

Measurements: 67-100% of time = Continuously, 45-66% of time = Frequently, 66% of time = Occasionally



  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential functions consistent with Sunkist standards, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Sunkist standard, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to: talk, listen and speak effectively on telephone; read, write and understand written documents and policy; sit for sustained periods of time.



  • Ability to type or otherwise work primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
  • Must be able to spend extended period of time sitting, viewing computer screen and/or operating a keyboard.
  • Will need to move from workstation to various printers, scanners, etc. in order to handle business documents.
  • Will need to type, key, grasp, twist, turn, reach, kneel, squat, stand, bend and stoop during a regular work day.



  • Moderate Carrying – must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally by automobile, train, or airplane.



  • Normal office equipment such as printers, scanners, fax machines, computer and keyboard.
  • May be responsible for company provided cell phone and laptop.

  • Understand business math in calculating profit/loss, percent change, import tariff rates, cost, etc.
  • Learn as special training and education is required in how to use the order entry system, understanding the business model, learning about various export markets, and weekly quote procedures.



  • Works mainly in an office environment subject to continuous interruptions and mild to moderate background noises.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor and operating a keyboard.
  • Works an 8-hour workday Monday through Friday in the Corporate Office, however, may work overtime as needed. Telecommuting is not an option at this time.
