Job description

The job of the Business Analyst was established for the purpose/s of performing analytical tasks, developing, analyzing and distributing retail movement and packing projection reports to management as well as other staff. In addition, this position will gather intelligence on customers and competitors both domestically and globally for the purpose of maintaining and evaluating our competitive position in the market.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

  • Analyzes packinghouse projections as compared to sales projections to maximize fresh utilization.
  • Gathers and interprets global production data and shipping trends and volumes to develop global strategies.
  • Gathers and interprets retail sales volumes and trends.
  • Builds market position by locating, developing, defining business relationships and opportunities.
  • Reviews sales reports and stats to determine opportunities and gaps and suggests strategies to improve.
  • Documents findings of studies and recommends new systems or procedures based on findings.
  • Produces statistical models to help predict market trends.
  • Reads publications and attends seminars on industry trends to aid in keeping ahead of the competition.
  • Communicates effectively with company stakeholders. (Packinghouse managers, Varietal management, Regional directors and sales personnel.
  • Analyzes the techniques and successes of the competition and reports on the findings.
  • Required to travel to conferences, seminars and client locations.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Accomplishes department and organization goals by completing related tasks as needed.

 

OTHER DUTIES

  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Maintains customer files.
  • Maintains a neat work area.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and personal conduct at all times.
  • Attends meetings as requested.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications/Licenses, Experiences, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Masters or Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance, Marketing or a related field or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years’ of applicable business experience in planning, forecasting and allocation a plus.
  • Must possess a valid unrestricted driver’s license and have reliable means of transportation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to solve problems and make sound business decisions
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with internal and external customers across all levels.
  • Skilled at thinking creatively or “outside the box.”
  • Must have strong planning, research and organizational skills.
  • Must have proven analytical skills and abilities.
  • The ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within standard accepted practices.
  • Ability to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent’s and/or ratios.
  • Strong computer skills: must be proficient in MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook; Report writing a plus; ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Must be detail oriented; work in a fast-paced environment with high ability to multitask.
  • Must be willing to work long and flexible hours as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Skilled at adapting to changing priorities, work environments, management styles and business trends.
  • Ability to acquire and apply new knowledge or skills for work and recognize own strengths and weaknesses.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (List not all inclusive)

Measurements: 67-100% of time = Continuously, 45-66% of time = Frequently, 66% of time = Occasionally

 

Continuously:

 

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential functions consistent with Sunkist standards, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Sunkist standard, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to: talk, listen and speak effectively on telephone; read, write and understand written documents and policy; sit for sustained periods of time.

 

Frequently:

 

  • Ability to type or otherwise work primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm.
  • Must be able to spend extended period of time sitting, viewing computer screen and/or operating a keyboard.
  • Will need to move from workstation to various printers, scanners, etc. in order to handle business documents.
  • Will need to type, key, grasp, twist, turn, reach, kneel, squat, stand, bend and stoop during a regular work day.

 

Occasionally:

  • Moderate Carrying – must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel domestically by automobile, train, or airplane.

 

EQUIPMENT USED FOR THIS POSITION

  • Normal office equipment such as printers, scanners, fax machines, computer and keyboard.
  • May be responsible for company provided cell phone and laptop.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works mainly in an office environment subject to continuous interruptions and mild to moderate background noises.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer monitor and operating a keyboard.
  • Telecommuting is not an option at this time.
