Job description

Sbrocco International, Inc. is recognized as one of the elite shippers of imported produce (grapes, apples, citrus, pears & more). Sbrocco is seeking an individual with retail sales experience directly with supermarkets. We will train the produce industry to the right candidate.

Our ideal candidate must show and exuberate drive, initiative, learn quickly, take on difficult tasks with enthusiasm and maintain a professional and stable appearance under pressure.  

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Communications and must also have at least 3-5 years’ experience working in direct sales to supermarkets.

 

Our Company History:

Sbrocco International was founded in 1992, by its president, who has been involved in the produce industry since 1972. While working for various importing companies, he acquired the knowledge and experience needed to eventually begin a joint venture specializing in imported and domestic fruits. Sbrocco International, Inc. has earned a reputation of working diligently with the shippers, thus ensuring successful programs for its suppliers and customers. As a result, Sbrocco International, Inc. currently represents prestigious exporters from Chile, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, and New Zealand who deliver premium quality produce.

In recent years, Sbrocco International, Inc. has expanded its marketing operation to include customer packing facilities.  We pack grapes into clamshell cartons, as well as cherries into polybags on our automated packing lines. In addition, Sbrocco bags apples, pears, and citrus and utilizes our own repacking line for specialty packs. Our packing operation is currently located in Hammonton, New Jersey.

JOB REQUIREMENTS                                                                                                                 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Communications.

  • Must also have at least 3-5 years’ experience working in sales to supermarkets (i.e. Food Categories, Center Store, Dairy, etc.)

  • Self-starter who shows confidence and is eager to get involved and learns quickly.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Ability to solicit and develop new and long lasting professional relationships with supermarkets.

  • Possess strong organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Some Saturday work or late night hours maybe required.

  • Position requires visiting Supermarket Headquarters.

  • Must be detail oriented.

  • Must possess a valid unrestricted driver’s license and have reliable means of transportation.

  • Maintain an overall professional appearance and conduct while at work and at company related functions.

  • Maintain good judgement and decisions that impact on company.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                            

  • Attend USDA Produce Training Course to learn the Produce Industry.

  • Make daily sales phone calls to customers.

  • Ensure each customer receives our outstanding customer service.

  • Negotiate customer pricing, pick-up and delivery schedules.

  • Meet with customers to discuss our promotions, provide samples, packaging options, overall promoting all our products.

  • Monitor competition utilizing marketplace information on products, pricing and delivery.

  • Work as a team and effectively communicate with all departments (Operations, Accounting, Quality Control and Transportation).

  • Optimize our sales strategies by analyzing customer specifics and market sales data.

  • Maintain knowledge of current pricing, current market conditions while informing customers of crop conditions.

  • Handle customer claims regarding shipments and negotiate settlements.

  • Order processing, pricing, mediating shipping arrival issues and coordinating transportation needs for assigned customer.

  • Occasional travel to trade shows and visit customers. 

WORKING CONDITIONS  & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS                                                 

  • Must be able to spend extended period of time sitting, viewing computer screen and/or operating a keyboard.
  • Working an 8-hour day Monday-Friday in an office environment, however, the position may require overtime when needed. Saturday hours are required at some periods during the season. Telecommuting is not an option at this time.

  • Works mainly in an office environment subject to continuous interruptions and moderate background noises.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to travel during the week and/or weekends by car, airplane or train.
