Title: Payroll Technician
Location: Traveling position: Salinas and Tres Picos, California and Yuma, Arizona
Reports to: Payroll Supervisor

The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Verifies accuracy in daily harvest production breakdown reports.
- Verifies accuracy in timecards, crew rosters, and other payroll records.
- Downloads employees’ work hours from the Kronos System and enters these hours accurately in the JD Edwards system.
- Manually verifies payroll reports for data entry accuracy.
- Processes, prints, sorts and organizes weekly paychecks for distribution.
- Files payroll records after weekly payrolls are completed.
- Work early and/or late hours to ensure payroll is accurately completed on a weekly basis.
- Covers payroll responsibilities by participating on a Saturday rotation schedule.
- Must have regular, reliable, predictable attendance.
- Performs additional payroll tasks as directed.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education Training and/or Experience
An Associate of Arts (i.e., AA) Degree or two years of payroll experience.
Must be bi-lingual and bi-literate in English/Spanish.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively, including over the phone, email and in person. Must have written, verbal interpersonal and cross-cultural skills to communicate and work with everyone, from the field, warehouse, to team-members, and management.
Must have strong mathematical skills and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly in Excel and Word). Experience in Enterprise One, JD Edwards, Showcase Query and IBM Lotus Notes is a plus, but not required.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must be a self-starter with minimal supervision, able to work independently and in a team environment with great attention to detail and have excellent organizational skills.
Must be able to relocate to follow the harvesting operations: Tres Picos, California from mid-October through mid-November; Yuma, Arizona from mid-November through mid-April; and, Salinas, California from about mid-April through mid-October, depending on the production season, which is affected by weather, plant quality, labor supply, and business necessity. Must also be able to travel intermittently to remote locations.

In this position, the employee will sit at a desk and operate a computer, and keyboard; hear; talk; stand; walk; have visual acuity to review and prepare written documentation; have the ability to understand speech at normal room levels and on the telephone; and have manual dexterity to operate a telephone and computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision. This position may require working outside of normal business hours.
