Job Title: Director of Food Safety

Location: King City, CA (All Year)

Salary: Exempt


  • Develop, implement, manage and integrate a Quality Management System (QMS) for CVF.
  • Manage the department budget to ensure proper allocation of resources for the production of safe, high-quality products.
  • Work with inspectors regarding pest control both internal and external.
  • Teach and train employees in chemical testing and how to use the equipment.
  • Design, implement and document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Accompany regulatory auditors during inspections and draft a corrective action plan for any deficiencies.
  • Manage Hold and Release program.
  • Ensure Famous process is performed on daily basis.
  • Consistently review and update the food safety program.
  • Act as the recall coordinator.
    • Perform mock recalls
    • Work with plant manager and operations manager to make improvements.
  • Perform daily checks to monitor plant practices to avoid contamination.
  • Review and maintain supplier approval documentation.
  • Collect samples and develop reports in conjunction with the lab.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Present training programs for employees, including GMP, HACCP, and food safety.
  • Act as representative on the HACCP Team.
  • Develop and implement protocols for chemical testing.
  • Review customer purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality plans.
  • Develop budget by collaborating with other departments concerning supplies and services.
  • Manage customer complaints by taking corrective actions.
  • Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Ability to produce COA and manage in house lab


  • Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Organizational Skills: ability to perform multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations
  • Ability to coordinate and work as a team with other employees and customers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to monitor and track daily production.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • A Master’s degree is preferred, with experience in food science and quality assurance.
