Title: Payroll Administrator
Location: Salinas, California
Reports to: Payroll Supervisor

The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  •  Verifies accuracy in daily harvest production breakdown reports.
  •  Verifies accuracy in timecards, crew rosters, and other payroll records.
  •  Downloads employees’ work hours from the Kronos System and ensures hours are accurate in the JD Edwards system.
  •  Manually verifies payroll reports for data entry accuracy.
  •  Processes, prints, sorts and organizes weekly paychecks for distribution.
  •  Sorts, organizes and distributes garnishments and child support reports for AP.
  •  Processes biweekly employee per-diem payments.
  •  Files and scan payroll records after weekly payrolls are completed.
  •  Reprinting of W2’s as requested by employees.
  •  Work schedule includes early and/or late hours to ensure payroll is accurately completed on a weekly basis.
  •  Covers payroll responsibilities by participating on a Saturday rotation schedule.
  •  Must have regular, reliable, predictable attendance.
  •  Present Foreperson’s Trainings at different locations.
  •  Assists Payroll Lead as needed.
  •  Performs additional payroll tasks as directed.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Assists Payroll Lead who supervises a total of five Payroll Technicians in various locations.

Education Training and/or Experience
An Associate of Arts (i.e., AA) Degree or four years of payroll experience.
Language Skills
Must be bi-lingual and bi-literate in English/Spanish.
Communication Skills
Must have the ability to communicate effectively, including over the phone, email and in person. Must have
written, verbal interpersonal and cross-cultural skills to communicate and work with everyone, from the field,
warehouse, to team-members, and management.
Mathematical Skills
Must have strong mathematical skills and the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.
Reasoning Ability
Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule
Computer Skills
Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly in Excel and Word). Experience in
Enterprise One, JD Edwards, Showcase Query and IBM Lotus Notes is a plus, but not required.
Other Skills and Abilities
Must be a self-starter with minimal supervision, able to work independently and in a team environment with
great attention to detail while working at a fast phase and have excellent organizational skills.
Other Qualifications
Must be able to travel intermittently to various geographic locations. As in example, when harvesting
operations move to Yuma, Arizona during Mid-November through mid-March. Tres Picos, California during
the Fall and Spring seasons. Which depends on the production season, which is affected by weather, plant
quality, labor supply and business necessity.

In this position, the employee will sit at a desk and operate a computer, and keyboard; hear; talk; stand; walk;
have visual acuity to review and prepare written documentation; have the ability to understand speech at
normal room levels and on the telephone; and have manual dexterity to operate a telephone and computer.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision. This
position may require working outside of normal business hours.
