perishable foods, as well as the manufacturing and distribution of processed
avocado products. Founded in 1924, Calavo's expertise in marketing and
distributing avocados, processed avocados and other perishable products enables
it to serve food distributors, produce wholesalers, supermarkets and restaurants
on a global basis.
We are currently recruiting for a Transportation Coordinator who will coordinate
the transportation of all of our processed food products from Mexico into the
U.S.
Will coordinate the following functions:
On a weekly basis negotiate and compare rates of US trucking companies to haul product from the border to the destination facility; monitor closely and track status of delivery.
Review invoices on Mexico and Canadian orders.
Review loads on high pressure product and create split loads when required; requires negotiation with third party carriers to ensure LTL arrive timely while monitoring closely the status of delivery along the route.
Monitor load temperatures and weight of trucks for delivery.
Review bills of lading for product; ensure freight costs are applied and entered.
Update transportation report, email major third party carriers with information, respond to inquiries regarding report and tracking information; ensuring proper documentation is obtained and maintained.
Perform data entry of all changes and adjustments to pricing and freight.
Attend weekly staff meetings with operations and logistics team.
Assist customer service staff members with changes on orders to ensure proper/on time delivery.
Requirements include a related degree or an
equivalent combination of education and experience that provides for the
experience, knowledge, skills and ability required for the position, 3+ years
experience in inventory and distribution (preferably in the agricultural
industry), demonstrated knowledge of border crossings and customs regulations,
previous experience with inventory/freight systems, solid PC skills in MS
Office, excellent problem solving skills, sound judgment displaying willingness
to make decisions, excellent communication skills both verbal and written (bi
lingual English/Spanish highly preferred) and strong demonstrated ability to
prioritize and plan work activities in an ever changing, fast paced environment.
